Bob joined Draths after over 25 years in chemical
R&D management. After a career in a chemical industry that had to depend on
raw materials from traditional sources, he feels privileged to be a part of a
team that will develop and commercialize critical chemical building blocks such
as caprolactam and terephthalic acid derived from renewable sources. Bob has led research groups focused on electronic
materials, measurement science, industrial adhesive technology and product
development, and new chemistry for household and personal care products. He is
happiest when he has time to work with and mentor young scientists and
engineers. He has been a member of teams that have commercialized many new
molecules and formulated products.
In addition to his professional work, Bob and his wife have raised two
children who are dedicated professionals, one an ICU nurse with a leading
hospital and the other a software engineer with a major high technology company. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario in organic chemistry.
